For the month of November Scoil Moling Glynn nominated a 'bird of the month' for the whole school. It was the robin. Their 'tree of the month' was the holly tree.
Having learnt about these in class and using the Great Plant Hunt resources they then went on a nature walk outside to see if they could spot either in the school grounds.
The students and teachers decided to carefully look at the bird feeders which were put up around that time. They spotted a number of birds including a robin.
The topic was also integrated into Art lessons with junior and senior infants making their own robins.
In December the school decided to construct a bug hotel on the grounds using old recyclable materials. They are hoping to have many visitors over the coming months.
Finally, following on from a visit by a local heritage expert, the school community decided to try and make a habitat for solitary bees. Special stick habitats are being made, which will hopefully attract the solitary bees for nesting.
